Afternoon all
Hope Anne has a great 3 weeks holl,
Maureen thanks for the photo's of Finley, he looks like he's having a great time,

Mild but wet here,
I was looking out of the kitchen window this morning and the garden was full of animals, Pigeons, lots of little birds probably tits. 3 squirrels, all we needed was rabbits and a couple of deer, and it would look like a scene from Disney's SNOW WHITE & THE SEVEN DWARFS LOL.

Am doing lunch in the slow cooker today, chicken, and veg all in together!! Hope it'll be OK!! Yes Jane, Ian has a leg bag, and a big night bag which hooks onto the leg bag. It's all OK just a bit tedious!! Good thing I did all that 'Care in the Community' for all those years, at least I know which end is which!!! we have quite a few snowdrops out now, and, yes, I think what you saw were celandines Mandy, I've noticed some under the hedge up the road from us when I've taken Millie; sure sign of spring thank goodness. Got onto Surnames on Ancestry yesterday, and did a post for my maiden name, wonder if anyone will reply? watch this space!!!

Hi Liz so pleased that Ian is coming along well now. Good luck for losing that dreaded bag tomorrow. I am sure he will feel so much better without it.

Mandy I think too, that they were Celandines that you saw the other day. Our snowdrops are coming out too. I always love it on a nice sunny day to lay on the grass right by them and look across at ground level. Have'nt had a nice enough day to do that yet this year.

Mandy as you like the upside down look of the snowdrop why not pick a few heads off and float them in water in a wine or champagne glass. They look so pretty like that. I also have a couple of very small vases that I used to put them in but they never last long indoors and it now seems a shame to pick them for that. I used to pick bunches and bunches of them and sell them in the market when I did Bideford. displayed in a basket and labled " Fair Maids of February" but now they sems to come more in January!!

I'm in the middle of a trip down memory lane. Sorting all the old photos, it's a real mess, they have been thrown into a big box and they are all mixed up. Think I will write the names on the back of some of them, as I can imagine in years to come great grandchildren asking who the people are and nobody will know.

I've hit my peak with the bowling game so won't play it again, I might never get that score again .....lol

I've had lunch now so it's back down memory lane. BBL

Jane Report 6 Feb 2011 15:17

Well we are back. What a disappointment that was.Hannah said "well I don't know about a carpet of Snowdrops, there wasn't even a doormat" lolol. There were hardly any.Plenty of Celandines though !!.I right rip off.We decided not to have a bite of lunch there and went just along the way to a Buddhist Centre where there is a little Tea shop.It was a very long wait and they had run out of all sorts ,but I had a Pannini and Hannah had a Wrap.
I haven't even bothered with photos ,so I think that says it all lol.

Thanks for that Frank.Just a bit too late with your help.Never mind.I shall make do with the hundreds of snowdrops down in the Churchyard. They look really pretty.

Fiona I could send you some rabbits !! with my blessing.Little ******!!

I wish I was doing something in the Slow Cooker today Liz,but it is Roast.Loin of Pork for Chris and me and a chicken breast for Madam. My lovely Roast potatoes, roasted carrots,Parsnips,Courgettes.Cauli and Broccoli .I hope no-one wants to eat early as I can't be bothered to get started yet.

Hi Maureen ,Mel.you slipped in just before me.
Maureen I have loads of photos that came from Mum.There are a lot with people in who I have no idea at all who they are.I have decided the next time I get them all out I will get rid of those ones as there is no one left living who would be able to help me ,and even though I am loathed to do it ,it seems silly to hang on to them.I have thrown some away but then felt guilty. But the more I think about it it is daft to hang on to them .There are hundreds more that will be kept !I find that once I sit down to go through them I be looking at and NOT sorting all day lol

I might do that Mel , float a few in water ,what a shame Jane ,perhaps they need another week or two to bloom or a bit of sun !! Perhaps you should have tried where Frank suggested .

I have a cardboard box full of old photo's and no idea of who some of the people are ,sister and i did say we would go through them all and fill an album with the ones we know .
There are no photo's of our grandfather on our mothers side as my grandmother was said to have turned him out of the house as he wouldn't get a job !! probably threw all photo's of him away too!!

Slow Cooker dins seems fine, we shall have it after I've fed Merlin and tucked him up, well, till just before we go to bed, when Ian, now me, slip down to his stable for a final wedge of hay! he's better cared for than we are!!! I spent a couple of weeks back in the summer sorting out old family photos and trying to put names to them! my mother inherited the family photos from my Granny, and when she died they were bequearthed to me. There is no one left, apart from me who knows who certain family members are, so I was under instruction from Laura and my much younger cousins to 'name and shame them'!!! I like the sound of your Lemon Tart Mandy! perhaps you could PM me with the receipt if you have time, it sounds delicious.

Jane Report 6 Feb 2011 16:48

Mandy I think I missed Franks post by about an hour.I wouldn't be surprised if some people complained about the lack of snowdrops.I know it nature and maybe the weather has held them back but I do think there should have been something to say it wasn't the 'Snowdrop Spectacular' that was expected. There were some family groups and even though children were free at £3 entrance it would have been quite a bit for some.
We did have a walk around the lake and through the small gardens which I think will be beautiful in the summer with all the roses and topiary.

It is still blowing a gale out there and is now quite dark but so mild.Tomorrow morning I have to high tail it over to Market Harborough to Hannahs house by 10 o'clock. Her boiler is being serviced anytime between 10 and 12.I think I may have already said this lol.Sorry if I have. The positive thing about going over is that there is a brilliant butchers and deli and they sell the most lovely stuffed chicken breasts.I like the Italian style one,Chris and Hannah like the one with goats cheese and chorizo. They sell lots of other nice things too.I may get a few bits to pop in the freezer.

I was thinking last night about my younger days.We all go out for meals these days to pubs or restaurants .I can't remember the first time I went out for a meal with my parents.Maybe we never did, until I was in my teens.I must ask Janice if she can remember

Liz, i'am afraid i cheated tonight ,the Lemon Tart was a frozen one from As*a
they are very tasty.
Hope your OH gets on ok tomorrow ,has your car been sorted out yet ,if not how will you get to the hospital?

Jane , we have a little butchers like that just out of town , i love their sausages , they also do lots of stuffed chicken and that sort of thing .

I remember going out to a restaurant with mum and dad , and dad ordering the duck ,well this restaurant was so dark ,the main light coming from a candle on the table ,we were in fits of laughter when dad said move that candle nearer me i carn't see what i'am eating here!!

We use to go to the Bernie Steak House in Norwich ,were you could see them cook the steaks on the grill.

Remember when it was the fashion to have Matues Rose( can't think how to spell Matues) ,and the Restaurants had them on the tables with lots of candlewax all dripped down the sides. The bottles would be in a wicker thingamebob.I think it was common to have them in Bistros with checked tablecloths.
I remember the Bernie Inn up on the Hoe in Plymouth.Thought it was quite posh then lol

Well we have eaten ,dishes all in the dishwasher.Chris has gone to bed!!!!!!
I think he must be tired !!!
I won't be watching Larkrise .I lost interest a while ago as I thought it was too slow and not enough umph to it.I got bored.Shame really ,as I enjoyed the first series.
Anne will be all unpacked and chilled now on her hols! 3 weeks !!!
Mel you must be looking forward to your holiday now .it will soon come around.I bet you can't wait with it being your first for soooooo long.
