we went out for dinner last night ...... to our special place. The one we can only afford to go to 2 or 3 times a year!

One of those times is usually at the end of May, after OH has finished the Grad Ceremonies work, but we didn't have time, until now.

Next visit will be our anniversary in August.

A bit of luxury is wonderful :-D

We had a wonderful meal, as always ............ I had duck breast, and OH had a beef tenderloin

OH had a dessert ................ home-made Rhubarb yoghurt, which he said was delicious. I opted not to have a dessert ...... but the owner then brought me half a sliced apple, very nicely presented, for me to nibble on. :-)

Bit of a teaser for you as tomorrow is Canada Day ................

Did you know the following foods were invented or discovered in Canada???

1. Ginger Ale ......... This was originally invented in Ireland, but a Canadian made changes to the recipe in 1907, to produce Canada Dry Ginger

2. Instant Mashed Potatoes ............ invented in 1962, as a means of feeding the military and starving people

3. McIntosh Apples ......... 20 trees discovered on his property by John McIntosh in 1811

4. Pablum ............. this baby food was developed in 1931. It is a combination of fortified dried wheat, corn, bonemeal, and oatmeal.

5. Poutine ............. a French-Canadian favourite. French fries (chips) with gravy and cheese curds on top.

6. Processed cheese ............ Kraft cheese slices were developed in 1916. J L Kraft was a Canadian who emigrated to the US, then invented a way to preserve cheese.

7. Yukon Gold Potatoes ............. a cross between 2 kinda of potaotes made in Guelph Ontario

8. Canola oil ............. developed in the early 1970s as a means of using rapeseed oil for human consumption.

:-D :-D :-D

Gins, you put up a thread about the way some helpers spoke to new folk after someone had pm'd you all upset about something. I responded to your thread and the rest is history! One of the helpers also called you 'Goody Two Shoes' which riled you. Yep, I have a good memory for trivia. What day is it today?????? ;-)

Who knew Fred was a Canuck???

Good thing Mr Jones gave us a time zone to work with.,,,

I've been standing here munching on Velveeta-stuffed rhubarb stalks and playing Frisbee with Sylvia's neighbour's dog. Um-Dea-you didn't really want that s*torte thing back,I hope. ( a little dog drool never killed anyone)

Keep yer dog drool to your self Maureen !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Uuck !!!!!!!!!!! :-0 :-0

Glad you could make it though - I have been munching myself to oblivion for nearly an hour now and can hardly waddle over to greet you !! :-D <3 <3

I have fastened most things down, especially the 'pretty shiny things' so I don't think that there is much you can misappropriate BUT, I did leave a pretty bauble with twinkly crystals at the gate which you can help yourself to on the way out so that you won't feel disappointed ;-)

MaureeninNY Report 1 Jul 2012 14:20

YES!!! Party favours!!??? And they are shiny??? OOH I can't wait to leave.

I was joking about your sach* thingy,Dea. I slipped it under the Cedar-Planked Brie for safe keeping.

That was YOU coming towards me? Just when I was wondering if this area had any large wild animals... <3 <3 <3

Dea Report 1 Jul 2012 16:11

Cheeky Maureen !!

That large wild animal was Sylvia's wild bear !!! - I KNOW I am full but I started off at just over 7 stone and ate until I nearly busted !!! BUT I could never in my life get as big as that !!!!! ;-) :-D

It's O.K. - the baking tin is yours to keep and the 'special sparkly thing' hanging on the gate is yours to keep also !!

You can sleep with it under your pillow and the fairies will come and polish it up every night so it doesn't lose it's sparkle !!
