we think we have found another "comfortable" coffee shop.

It's in the same little area where we go for Japanese food on many Friday nights. It is another independent place, with comfortable chairs, pleasant people working there, good snacks ......... and good coffee

but no bookstore

we'll give it another couple of tries before being sure.

Problem is that it is a little further away, although still in the neighbourhood, and not quite in walking distance for me. I could take the bus 3 stops, and then walk from there ...... that would cut the walking down by about half.

Gins

it wasn't me having 3 coffees a day!!

It was the friend who phoned me to tell me that the coffee shop was closing.

She actually can't afford it, she has been retired about 8 years or so at least, and keeps being told by her advisor at the back that she should be careful with her money.

But equally she doesn't really cook for herself.

So she was going in first thing in the morning (about 7 am), round about lunch time, and then mid to late afternoon (when we are there) .... when she often bought some food to take back home. Not sure whether she bought food at the earlier times, although I could quite easily believe that she did!

She had a very responsible though technical job, translating educational materials into Braille ........ but also suffers from some sort of mental problem. She didn't know or use Braille, but learnt it for this job.

But she loved her coffee ........ and that store!

Coffee three times a day would cosy you anywhere from £6 - £10 here, a slice of cake, add another £3.60 :-0

So, I'll go for the free Veggie Wrap .............thank you :-D

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 5 Jul 2012 08:09

That's more expensive than here!

OH pays under $2 for a small cup of black coffee (ca 8-10 oz size) ...... that's less than £1

I pay between $4 and $5 for a 12 oz latte with soy milk (which costs extra) ..... that's around £2-2.50

a large piece of pie is around $3.50 (or ca £1.75)

I'm off to bed now

night night everyone

Good morning coffee lovers :-D :-D :-D

I understand how you feel Sylvs....going out for coffee is one of my pleasures in life. However, your OH seems to go willingly whilst mine has to have a hand tied up his back :-D

I make him drink it - one handed or not!!! :-D :-D

Those prices are pretty good too. I like Starbucks but they are expensive :-(

We had a little coffee shop within an easy drive from here which closed down last year and I was really sorry to see it go.....and then, another one opens not far away and it's really super with brilliant prices. :-D

Thank you for breakfast....I've just finished my housework too so am off for a shower.....~~~~

Headache? (too much sun at your age?)

Writer's cramp? (quill pens are bad for your arthritis)

Some sort of celebration?

Birthday?
Anniversary?
Holiday?
Lottery?

Don't you like coffee shops?
Too expensive?

Surely not the thought of me having a shower........ :-S :-S

OH loves coffee!

If he is home, he always tries to get me to go out for coffee earlier than we've planned!

I usually only have that 1 latte a day ............

.......... he has at least 3 cups a day.

Instant coffee at breakfast (yuk!)

real coffee for elevenses

real coffee mid-afternoon.
