Glad you're sussing things out Linds.......it's not really that difficult at all.

My advice re the dark side is to make sure you have your privacy settings as you want them. :-D

Enjoy!

Oh well - the 'torch' has arrived then !!! - I can hear loud music and the cheers of the crowds coming from over the road (the University), where it will be paraded around for another hour before setting off through the town and away on it's journey!!

Strange, i hadn't even considered that there would be all this entertainment to go with it - motor cycle displays, stilt walkers, dance troopes, music etc., etc., - quite a 'Carnival' in fact. I had just imagined loads of people lining the streets to watch people running along carrying the torch (silly me).

Hope the grand-children are enjoying it all ! - Grand-daughter will be SSSOOOooooo excited!

Dea Report 3 Jul 2012 19:45

Well folks - grand-daughter IS still excited!

and yes - she DID get to hold it !!! :-D

One of the runners brought the torch to her school afterwards and they held a special assembly - she and 3 of her class mates were chosen to hold the torch ! - I DO hope there are photo's somewhere !!!

Little grandson's nursery school also had a visit but all grandson said was that 'some man' had brought the torch in but that all the flames had 'blowed out' !!! :-( :-D :-D

Hi Everyone!!!!

Thank you for the eggy bread Sylvs - as always - it was delicious!!! Hope you are keeping well?

Hi Dea [in particular!] all the others are on FB so I thought I would come over here to see if you are OK? Please try to visit FB more often - I know that you dont like it [and niether do I if I am honest] but I dont want you to become lonely on here - with so many leaving GR!!!!

I too got to hold a torch - and although I am somewhat against all the hipe and expenditure that this is costing us - I have to admit that I felt quite honoured just to touch it!!! I hate the olympics and will not watch them, and the chaos the torch relay has caused for people getting into work etc is dreadful - but I still wanted to touch that torch!!! :-D

Visitor went about half an hour ago so I am now going to wander around. On here - not outside I hasten to add......I'm in my jamas :-D

Sounds like your granddaughter has had a really good day Dea. Hope she gets to sleep tonight...

I'm not interested in the Olympics particularly. May watch the opening ceremony but, there again, may not ;-) Not terribly sporty in this house I'm afraid.

I'm just listening to a James Patterson book when ironing and it's really quite scary - it's about terrorism at the 2012 Games......the real life security must be a nightmare.

:-P :-0

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 3 Jul 2012 22:05

well, so far, your security has cost less than it cost us in 2010

the final cost of security for the 2 sites was $1 billion

or about £500,000,000

wonder what yours will end up costing????

Gee

Gee Report 3 Jul 2012 22:21
