Yum yum :-D :-D :-D

Thanks Sylvs <3

What an exciting day you are having Cyns ;-)

Im going to help the recruitment process today with JBs place, sifting applications today and then sorting out the interviews etc....

Dea

Dea Report 28 Aug 2012 09:53

I used to love doing that Ginns!

I would make 3 piles - 'definite no', 'definite yes' and 'possible' for me to interview, then I would sift more carefully through the 'possibles' until I had enough!.

One thing I always did too, which I don't think anyone bothers to do nowadays, was to send EVERYONE a letter to either invite them for interview or to at least tell them that they had 'not been successful on this occasion'

I DO think that people should not be left wondering ;-)

Dea Xxx

Gee

Gee Report 28 Aug 2012 10:03

Its all done electronically Dea, click of a mouse and they all know where they stand, either come in for an interview or 'on this occation....'

Its a box ticking exercise at this stage, if they tick enough boxes they get to the next stage, stops the process from being 'subjective'

We wont even know the names of the applicants as those details are kept seperate until the interview stage, there is just a ref number on the applacation that we assess today

Dea

Dea Report 28 Aug 2012 10:08

Well, at least they know where they stand !!

It must be very depressing for those people out there who take the trouble to apply for all the jobs there are available (though at the moment that would not add up to many :-(), and then wait for the post every day and never hear anything back.

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 28 Aug 2012 10:17

I agree entirely Dea.

I know that these days employers are likely to be inundated with applications but if someone has gone to the trouble to apply the least they should expect is to be acknowledged, even if only by a letter to say, "Thank you for your application but unfortunately we are unable to offer you the position".

Years ago in my position as unpaid personnel director for a registered charity in Birmingham I advertised for a full time activity organiser, part funded by the Sports Council. The advert drew in well over 200 applications from just about everywhere in the country. Some applicants were obviously unsuitable on the grounds of lack of experience and others because of over qualification but I made sure that all were thanked for their interest and wished them well for the future.

Gee

Gee Report 28 Aug 2012 10:26

Interesting Jonesey...the post we are sifting today is for a 'Community Events Organiser' funded by some european pot.

.......and Im volunteering my services too!

Maybe we are related ;-)

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 28 Aug 2012 13:39

Hmmm. I see Jonesey has beat a hasty retreat at the thought that you may be related Gins..... ;-)

Painter - finished.

Engineer - finished.

Moi - finished ........... or nearly so. Have been up and down stairs like someone not right :-S
