What I said was true Gins........look how often people complain about things on this site when, really, some of it is because they haven't looked at things properly.... :-)

A very early good morning everyone..... :-D

Hoping to go to a meeting with OH today. It starts at 10am so that means we have to be up an hour earlier than usual so that his meds can kick in. :-(

Never mind, it will be worth it in the end - hopefully!

It's still pitch dark outside with just the odd car whizzing past. Very peaceful. :-D

I'll tiptoe round and start putting thing out for breakfast......I see our Sylvs is going missing again soon.........so..... fend for ourselves it is!

Hope I'm not making too much noise........

Good morning all :-)

I quite like 'fending for myself' at breakfast time - I found some lovely bacon and lots of mushrooms, tomatoes and beans.

Hope you all have a lovely day,

Morning all.

I am not scaremongering but as I know a lot of you are also Facebook users I felt it responsible to alert you.

During the week my son's computer was infiltrated by a computer virus which he thinks was most probably picked up when he innocently clicked on a link. What happened next was that a pop-up appeared on his screen effectively blocking his computer and demanding that he send £100 via UKash in order to "Release" his computer. He rebooted his computer but found that the pop-up immediately reappeared thus still preventing him from using his computer. We realised that as the pop-up had reappeared on start up then the virus was located in his computers MSConfig file. Armed with that knowledge and after starting in "Safe mode" the virus was easily located, prevented from activating and subsequently removed.

Since then I have discovered via Google, that the virus is thought to be spread most commonly through sites such as Facebook and Youtube, often by emails purporting to come from members. Cyber crime is most definitely on the increase and the methods used to infiltrate peoples computers are becoming more sophisticated and potentially more damaging. The article below contains some good advice on current cyber crime methods and how to avoid becoming a victim of them.

Stay safe.

P.S. UKash is a legitimate money transfer site where users transfer cash to it and in return receive a 19 digit code which they in turn give to the person who they wish to receive the cash. The recipient then inputs the code and the money is then credited to them. The downside is that the recipient remains anonymous which of course is perfect for fraudsters.
