No change in the weather, road still covered in snow
Might take the car out, if I can get it out!

Well, now Ive seen it all :-0
Looking out the window, I see a little peugeot struggling up the road, right behind him, about an inch away, a 4x4
I thought, HOW CLOSE, only to see the 4x4 make contact with the car and start pushing him up the road!

Chelsea tractors do have their uses. :-D
I have owned one for many years and I have done similar on several occasions.
4x4's are great in these conditions but if you don't push 2 wheeled drive vehicles out of your way when they are in it you may as well be driving a 2 wheeled vehicle yourself. ;-)

Sorry, I can;t come out to play, I'm in the dog house (Again).
Just after the post I made at 1:14pm, to save clearing the snow off my own car since the last time I used it was last Thursday before the snow fell I borrowed Mrs J's car to nip to a local shop for some fags. She has a 2 wheel drive. She has been out a couple of times yesterday and had left it parked sideways at the end of our sloping drive so as not to struggle through the snow whilst getting it up the slope. When I came back I parked it in its usual position at the top of the drive in front of the house.
I had been in the house for less than 10 minutes when the dogs suddenly started barking as there was someone at the front door. Mrs J answered it and suddenly screeched out my name. When I went to the door I saw why she was somewhat agitated. Her car wasn't where I had left it but was in the middle of the road blocking traffic in both directions. It had slid down the drive on the snow.
I may be confined to barracks on bread and water for some time but at least i've got some fags. ;-)

Had you left the handbreak off or was it just ice?
I take it that it didnt hit anything or you wouldnt have been in a fit state to post anything on here for quite some time ;-)

Cripes, if me and the neighbours dig anymore cars out of the snow and ice, we'll be sending a bill to the highways dept!

Gin,
It is a front wheel drive car which has automatic transmission which was left in Park so it just slid on the snow/ice down the drive and out into the road. As you say it fortunately didn't hit anything on its way otherwise I probably would not have been here to tell the tale.
My daughter has just been to visit and her ex-husband who brought her parked his car right where I had parked Mrs J's but his car stayed put.
Just to bring those interested up to speed my daughter is due to visit the local hospital on the 5th of February to have an orthopaedic check up on her neck and then on the 13th of February she is booked into the neurosurgery department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham to have an operation which hopefully will ease the constant pain she is in due to the misalignment of the discs in her neck. In the meantime she is off to Tunisia tomorrow for a 7 day all inclusive holiday during which she will celebrate her birthday. The change of scenery and higher temperature should do her the world of good.

Well Mr Jones
If I had been Mrs Jones, I would have been down that drive like a shot, to check which gear you had left it in!
Hope your daughter has a relaxing break :-)

I DO hope she has a lovely time Jonesey - she deserves it !!
However, I have my own feelings about Tunisia (or Toobuddynisia as we 'unfondly' christened it)
The scenery is beautiful but I can't say that for anything else there !!
Tell her to take a couple of bottles of whiskey in with her and she can come home with 'many treasures' !!!

We have travelled to many places Ginns in all parts of the world.
AND, I have to point out that I am the last person in the world who anyone could describe as 'racist'.
However - we travelled to Tunisia - I tried to book a holiday in Mexico but couldn't get there for several weeks so I booked that and took a quick 'luxury week' in Tunisia to keep us going!
The resort was indeed luxourious and the service there was excellent.
However, if you went out of the complex you were confronted by people trying to sell you camel trips. - I am used to this but these people, if you refused, would follow you along the road shouting abuse until you relented !!
I went into a shop 'for a browse' - I usually do that before I buy anything - we had been warned about people following you and robbing you etc and as I was 'browsing', I realised that there were footsteps behind mine, keeping the same time! - every time I stopped, they stopped and when I went left, they went left etc!! - It turned out to be the shop owner making sure that I didn't steal anything.
There were things in there that I would have bought but when I showed an interest the man just started 'haggling' at about 100 times the amount they were worth.
I said to him - I want this - forget the 'haggling', just tell me how much it is but he didn't want to know so I just left them.
We went out one day to a place called siddi bou said (spelling is wrong) - on a coach trip.
This place was famous for 'bird cages' - we were on a coach trip and on the trip was a family with a very young child - they came back with a cage and we said to them "oh, you have a bird then" ? - They were shaking and said that no they didn't have a bird but they had to buy one because they were so frightened for their child and wanted to get away.!!
As you know, I am quite accustomed to wandering around Madrid or Barcelona on my own at night but even during the day, I was not happy to wander around Tunisia - There are 'Souks' which are like mazes and you have to pay beggars to take you out (you do not know where you are going !!)
To top it all, everyone on the tour developed a bad cough and chest infection - several were going to the local Doctor for daily 'flu injections' (do not exist) !!
The needles were rusty etc and I chose to buy some antibiotics and get myself home when I was treated for Pleurisy :-(
The people were awful - the hygene was awful - toilets had doors hanging off and had not been flushed for months - In cafes, the cups had 'lip marks' caked on them from several previous users ...........urrghhh !!!!!
All in all, I would never return and I even found myself talking to people who were looking in travel agents' windows and telling them not to go !!!
I do know some people who love the place and go back every year BUT not me !!!
Dea Xxx
P.S. - You DID ask....................Xxx
