Thank you for the warning Jonesey - I will advise the others to pop over and take a look. Hope you and yours are well.... <3

We seem to be having some flurries of the white stuff but I think it is more wet than it is white.....hope so anyway.

Not many around to day.......... :-(

I avoid that type of clip and check if someone sends a link I am not expecting. When you click like there is a hidden button underneath that activates the virus.

I have only once clicked on a dodgy email and that actually was worded in such a way it seemed innocent. It was from a fellow researcher and said something like I have found something interesting.
Seemed like a research breakthrough.

I saw the warning too late.

My daughter was on line and spotted the messages starting to appear. so was able to deal with it straight away.

Our rellies arrived yesterday ........... 5 weeks in Ontario, 4 days with us, and then back to OZ for them.

Unfortunately, my foot decided that yesterday was the right time for a couple of the to joints to get inflamed (due to the arthritis).

I can barely put my foot to the ground. So OH has taken them out, and I'm stuck at home, putting on ice packs, raising the foot, and generally resting it.

I've had this before, and ti will take 3 or 4 days to subside. :-(

Gee

Gee Report 13 Jan 2013 22:13

Lamb, is the only meat, that turns my stomach

I can stand the smell of other meat (dead animals)

..............NOT lamb

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 13 Jan 2013 22:47

We make shepherd's pie with ground beef ............ always have done

and, no, it is NOT cottage pie!!

Shepherd's pie has a mashed potato topping

Cottage pie has a topping of sliced potatoes.

that's what my mummy taught me :-D

and she must have been right

The only difference over here is that one does NOT grind up left over beef roast to make the pie ...................... the way our beef is raised means that grinding the remains of the roast just makes it taste like cardboard!

so we buy fresh extra lean ground beef to make the pies

I love lamb!!!

We'd be having it this weekend if not for our Aussie visitors .............. we figured they ate enough lamb at home, and anywya ......................... we buy NZ lamb :-D

Cynthia Report 14 Jan 2013 07:58

Good morning all :-D

Poor Sylvs........we really can't expect her to hobble around the kitchen waiting on us, especially when she has visitors so, I will start things off.

Kettle on

Porridge, cereals, yoghurts and grapefruit are all together over there >>>>

Bacon, eggs, tomatoes, hash browns, beans, mushrooms are all ready to be fried, grilled and heated.

An assortment of breads, crumpets and croissants are on the table. I just love the smell of fresh bread. yummmm

Please, help yourselves......I will clear up afterwards.

We've always made 'Shepherd's pie' with minced beef too Sylvs. I think different areas have their own ways of doing things.

I've seen hotpots with both sliced potato and/or pastry crusts.

I always thought that Cottage pie had cheese mixed in with the mashed potato.

'Prater' (potato) pie is very popular round here and I think it comes from the fact that potatoes were so filling for the hungry men who worked in the mines.

As my OH doesn't like potato mixed into a meat dish, it's not a delicacy I prepare..... :-D

Back to opticians this morning to pick up some altered specs.

There is a whiteness on the tops of the cars outside but that's it thank goodness. It sounds damp outside but I can cope with that.

Gins...it 'sounds damp' because of the noise of the tyres on the road.

Back later ~~~~~

Good morning all :-)

We have more 'white stuff' too but I suppose it is not too bad at the moment - just an inch or so.

Thank you for starting breakfast Cynthia - I will have a bacon barmcake with mushrooms................. yuummmm <3

Hope that foot gets better soon Sylvia - you are having a rough time of it at the moment ! <3

We have just had a power surge and one of our neighbours must be away because their alarm has been screaming away for over half an hour now :-( 0- It's driving us all mad !

Linda Report 14 Jan 2013 16:34

Received this email from a friend just now....thought it was worth sharing for a smile.........

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO TO MARRY? (written by kids)

You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff.
Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports,
and she should keep the chips and dip coming.
- Alan, age 10

No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry.
God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you're stuck with.
- Kristen, age 10

WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED?
Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then.
- Camille, age 10

HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED?
You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids
- Derrick, age 8

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MOM AND DAD HAVE IN COMMON?
Both don't want any more kids.
- Lori, age 8

WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE?
Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other.
Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough.
- Lynnette, age 8

On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date.
- Martin, age 10

WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE?
When they're rich.
- Pam, age 7

The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn't want to mess with that.
- Curt, age 7

The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you should marry them and have kids with them. It's the right thing to do.
- Howard, age 8

IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED?
It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them.
- Anita, age 9

HOW WOULD YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK?
Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a dump truck.
- Ricky, age 10

Kids eh???

I'm stuck home with this wretched foot ...............

not that I really wanted to go out in that weather!!

OH and the visitors left before lunch, taking the bus ............... he's going for a quick appointment with the cataract specialist, then they'll take the bus into downtown, and go shopping at one of the big stores ............... hopefully they'll find the rest of the gifts they want to take back home.

I'm just about to go and put an icepack on my foot, then lie on the bed with it elevated, and read my book for about 20-30 minutes.

OH thought he'd make sure I was awake this morning, so pressed down on "a bit of the duvet that was sticking up" .........................

it was the big toe of my sore foot :-0

he's still alive ................. but only just!
