Took Mum to Morecombe for a ride out today. I'm shattered now.

MC, I did have a BMW but got the Audi A3 in Jan.........go for a test drive, the Audi's are much nippier than BM's :-D

Nothing exciting at College, a power failure and we had to leave for H&S reasons

It was good though, meant I got to spend the day with J after I got the car back

Wet wet WET !! here !!! :-(

Going to get worse over the next few days !! - about par for the course for the bank holiday weekend !

I've been busy climbing branches of OH's family tree..........I think I have lost some twiglets somewhere. I asked him for the names of some of his cousins but, true to form, he looked blankly at me......he never has been really interested.......sigh.

Just had dinner got the M&S meal deal we had steaks lovely :-D

Cleaned out all the kitchen cupboards. fixed out the drink cupboard cos I wanted to know what I had to buy for party.

Definitely don't need wine as there are 18 bottles (not counting the one we got with the meal deal) ;-)

OH and son got the grass cut today. I got all the plates, napkins, cutlery, glasses and banners. :-D

I am shattered :-)

Tomorrow we have to weed the back garden, get some topsoil and then we need to get some plants.

Oh and I have an ironing that would keep Cynthia busy for a few hours ;-)

Gins hope you had a nice visit with J and hope she is feeling the benefit of her op<3

Daughter is going camping. :-(

She picks her times well.

Mum had a good day at Morecombe. It's not too far that she gets over tired but not too near that you feel you've just gone down the road :-D

I don't do camping, only glamping. I stay in a hotel whilst the boys are under canvass. :-D

Today has been an odd sort of day. I rose at 6:00am, performed my ablutions then switched on my computer and began reading the newspaper on the net. Just before 8:00am Mrs J poked her head round the door and announced that she was taking No1 son to the doctors as he had been having pains in his arms and chest and had palpitations during the night. No1 son is 40 years old and is currently living here with us temporarily (A long story).

The doctor examined him and then arranged for some tests to be carried out at the local hospital. There they passed a camera probe through a vein in his leg into his heart to enable them to see whether the valves were working normally and if there was any blockage in the arteries. The results showed that everything appeared fine and although there was some fat in the arteries it was very minor and what would be considered normal in a 40 year old light smoker. The hospital decided however to keep him for 24 hour observation/monitoring just in case there is a re-occurrence. Hopefully we will get a call in the morning to go and pick him up.

Personally speaking I don't think that his problem had anything to do with his heart. A much more likely cause of his discomfort would be indigestion caused by his mother's cooking. ;-)

Kids, no matter how old they are, you never stop worrying about them.

Jonesey I do hope it turns out to be indigestion but you can't take any chances.

Had a bit of a depressing hour or so earlier this evening ......


when my cousin's son was here on Monday, he mentioned that my old Grammar school was being demolished.

I knew it had been closed last year ......... a new Academy was set up.

Earlier I went on Friends Reunited, and there was a new thread started for My School ................... demolition of the school.

Some ex-students (mainly from the 80s I think) had sent up an RIP site for the school, and had spent most of the last 2 weeks taking photographs as the school was torn down.


It was such a beautiful iconic building, and it is so sad to think it couldn't be kept and re-used. It was only built and opened in 1951.

The common thought seems to be that the site is going to be redeveloped for affordable housing ............. on the top of the highest hill around, on the edge of town, and still I think without a bus service to the top.

Jonesey - very worrying for you all indeed. Been there and done that with OH several times with some false alarms.

However, they have done a thorough check on your son and so, hopefully, all will be well. Many things cause symptoms similar to heart attacks but it's always wise to check them out first.

Grown up kids are often more of a problem than those in nappies!! ;-)

Morning all, what a change waking up to lovely sunshine, not a cloud in the sky, the sea is all sparkly - a good day for pottering in the garden.

Jonesey, about 10 years ago I had an episode like your son's - hubby rang NHS Direct - ended up getting carted off to hospital, hooked up to ECG (they didn't do the vein thing), kept in for observation and then packed off home with a clean bill of health.

Went to GP, when he asked about what was going on in my life at the time I said "nothing much, apart from I've just taken on a new job and we're in the middle of moving house". He said even if I didn't feel stressed I probably was and that was what caused the "attack".

Two weeks later, at work, same thing happened and my boss took me up to the A&E nearby. ECGs again - all fine. Lovely young doctor suggested I had acid reflux and explained how when the acid splashes into the gullet it can cause spasms so intense it closely mimics the symptoms of a heart attack. She said that there are probably people who are being treated for angina that instead have a stomach problem - the symptoms are so similar.

Had some blood tests and I had the bug helicobacter pylori which is one of the main causes of stomach acid problems. It often lies dormant and people have no symptoms but stress can trigger stomach problems, then the h. pylori kicks in too. I had several courses of antibiotics which did the trick - I do still take a low dosage of Omeprazole because my "proton pumps" (they produce stomach acid) never quite settled back to normal.

So, if your son has had "stuff" going on in his life and then other factors, food etc., then it's highly possible that he's got the same sort of situation. Would be worth him asking his GP for a h. pylori test.
