I love storms too Ginns but not when you have to go out and get soaked in them ;-)
The most spectacular ones I have ever seen used to occur regularly when I was working in Spain when we were driving the passengers back into Madrid in the evening down from a restaurant we took them to up in the mountains. As we got down towards Madrid you could see the whole of the city lying below you and the lightning was spectacular !! - It used to be reported in the newspapers the following morning as to how many strikes per second had come down to earth.
Happy times..................

Spent 3 hours at the hospital this morning with OH. Physio which was fine and dermatologist which was fine too. All in all, it was fine.... :-D
Came home, made a sandwich and then took shopping to friend. Stripped and remade her bed and brought the washing home........as one does..... :-S
OH's unknown cousin has finally replied to me and is interested in the family - so - I am now going off to send him some info........

Gins I ask myself that all the time although I am not of retirement age just a lady of leisure I don't know how I managed everything when I worked full time.
Then again I was younger ;-)
Cynthia glad all went well today.
Dea I love storms as long as I am not out in them. I remember one time we were on holiday in Spain and there was a flash of lightning followed by a downpour it was over very quickly but you could tell the Brits - they were the ones still walking about in the rain ;-)
edited cos the emoticons went into overdrive

Morning all,
Cold and wet here in Melboune today. Not that it seems to slow the drivers down any!
Now that GR seems to have rearranged itself, is there a way I can always get the most recent post at the top of the thread rather than having to click on the post date?
Not sure I like all the site changes it doesn't seem as intuitive to use anymore...and everytime I try to post or access a thread I get an error... :(

I wasn't around until now ........................
we made a sudden decision on Wednesday to have some carpets cleaned, largely because we got a phone offer form the company who cleaned our furnace and chimneys last year.
We had these carpets that badly needed a professional clean ................. so OH suggested we took up the offer
3 rooms for $147 (ca £60-65) plus a 4th area free
so .................... they said "we can do it tomorrow afternoon" (that was today, Thursday) :-0
That meant yesterday evening and this morning was move valuables, plants, ornaments, lamps, books, coffee tables, etc etc
we had them do lounge and dining room and the upstairs family room, with the hall as the freebie
Our bedroom and the study are filled with all the easily movable furniture
OH has gone to church choir rehearsal ................ I hope he will be back before the rain comes so he can bring in the stuff we had to put on the sun deck
and then move stuff out of the bedroom so we can get into bed :-)
They use citrus-based materials .................. the house smells lovely, and the carpets look great. Plus ................... they only took 1-2 hours to dry

Good morning...........I'll make some more toast and start some bacon frying Dea.....we do love our bacon don't we ? :-D
Grace, I have now got into the habit of clicking on post date most times I come on this thread :-S
I was looking forward to a thunderstorm "like wot you had", Dea, but I was disappointed 'cos I love thunder and lightening. :-(
That sounds like an extremely good bargain for carpet cleaning Sylvs.....I have cleaned mine myself most years since we moved here, but if an offer like that came along, I would certainly go for it :-D
I've taken the bull by the horns and ordered a new gas cooker and hob. I've had the present one for about 7 years and it is unreliable because it can cut out without warning. I never leave it on when I am going out. Then, last week, the ignition on my hob packed up so.......................my lovely OH said I can get have another one. That may have been before he saw the balance on the account though......... :-D
Off to browse~~~~~
By the by, where are you Jonesey? I do hope you are taking care of yourself...... <3

Good morning all,
Cyn,
I'm still here but very late coming on to the computer today. Got up a bit later than usual and decided to start the day with a long soak in a hot bath, I always have 2 baths a year whether I need them or not. ;-)
Today is my last day of freedom as the family are due to return home tomorrow, in fact if their plane is on time they may get here before I rise from my slumbers. This means that to be on the safe side I shall have to do a few jobs before today is out. Tidy up, put out the rubbish, wash 2 weeks worth of dirty crocks, pick up and wash my dirty clothes ect. I don't want them to think that I am incapable of looking after myself even though I am. ;-)
The 2 weeks has gone by quite quickly and very very quietly. Looking back, the telephone has rung on only 4 occasions and 2 of those were silent calls. I have only talked to 5 people, the assistant in my local shop (Twice), my ex-son in law (Twice), my No2 granddaughter, the milkman and the Chinese restaurant delivery driver (Twice). Even the postman has walked by on more occasions than days when he had mail to deliver to us.
Fortunately there has been a lot of sport on the television so that has kept me fully occupied for most of the time. Although cricket is not my favourite sport, the shorter, 20 or 50 over games, can be entertaining so I have been watching the current one day international cricket tournament. England's chances of progressing to the next stage appear to be diminishing. There is little doubt that the influx of foreign players into our normal team sports (Cricket and football) is having a detrimental effect on home grown talent being given the opportunity to realise their full potential. Rather sad really. :-(
All should return to normal tomorrow, lots of noise, hussle and bussle, dogs barking, wife moaning ect. I wonder if they have planned their next holiday yet. ;-)
