Gosh Jonesey - the time 'has' passed quickly, I didn't realise they were due back so soon.

You will be having a very busy day today and will be quite exhausted by the time they arrive ;-) :-D

I am sure you will be very pleased to see them though !

Glad you're okay Jonesey, but don't forget those little jobs that make all the difference :

Put clothes in washing machine and turn it ON.

Plump up cushions on sofa

Wipe the front door down

Shift those newspapers

and, fer heaven's sake......make sure the toilet is clean!!!! ;-)

Cynths - you would be very jealous - we have more torrential rain and lots of thunder and lightning !

Must have had at least a month's worth of rain over the past couple of days ! :-(

SO glad I managed to have the family barbacue 'last' weekend ;-) :-D

Jonesey

the time has certainly gone by rather quickly!

may I suggest that you really do make it look as though you really are capable of looking after yourself?

or, they may never want to leave you alone again ;-)

Cyn ..............

I've never used a carpet cleaning company before ...........

we've also always done it ourselves.

We used to rent a machine from our local supermarket, and then we bought our own machine last year.

We were quite happy doing that, but it has become more and more of a chore to do ............... our whole house has fitted carpets in every room except the kitchen and 2 bathrooms.

It really takes 2 days, minimum, for us to clean all the carpets .........

....... move the furniture from one half of each room one evening, clean, and walk around in bare feet. Then vacuum the cleaned halves, and move the furniture onto that half the next evening (when (hopefully) the cleaned bit is dry), then clean the remaining half.

Put everything straight on the 3rd day!

Gins is just plain norty Sylvs...........she'll be sent to sit on the norty step soon :-D :-D

I ain't joking at all Jonesey.....unless your front door is black to start with. Mine is white and, what with living on a main road, I have to wipe it down cos it gets very dirty!
It's one of those jobs your OH wouldn't think that you would think of!! ;-)

Cleaned out my kitchen cupboards today........ :-0 It must be Spring! :-D

Sylvs.....I've used those carpet cleaners but they're so heavy aren't they?

Anyway, it's bedtime again......night night all.......

Jonesey Report 14 Jun 2013 22:34

I have a stay of execution. The departure of my family from Florida is subject to a 15 hour minimum delay. They were originally due to leave at 15:00 EDT but the plane that they were due to fly on was involved in a collision on the tarmac with one of the airport tow tractors in Manchester this morning. It had been scheduled to depart from Manchester at 08:30 BST this morning but because of the time taken to examine and repair the damage, it is in fact only now loading and will not leave until about 23:30 BST. The new schedule means that it will not arrive back in the UK until about 19:00 BST tomorrow evening.

The panic now is will it get my daughter back home in time for her to wave goodbye to her daughter who is due to fly out from Heathrow to Boston at 06:30 BST on Sunday morning. No2 granddaughter will be working at a children's summer camp in Vermont for the next 2 months.

All this international travel is making me giddy and I'm the one stuck at home.

Another busy day.

Son and family came to visit (they came home yesterday)

Oldest GD didn't want to go home so came shopping with us. She has been misbehaving (terrible two's stage) so we took her to give them a rest. She was good as gold :-D

Then we took son and d-i-l out for dinner as they were away when we all went out for OH's birthday.

They used to eat out a lot still do just not so often and can be quite fussy.

They LOVED all 3 courses and are planning to go back again. RESULT :-D :D

I must agree the meal was lovely.
