Oh dear......woke up this morning and feel even worse :-| You name it, it eaither aches or runs

Spent nearly 3 hours on the phone to the tree printer, sorting out problems caused by GR software. I'll not bore you with the details, I have a thread on the other board

Think I will go and have a long shower and feel sorry for myself!

Today have to catch up with everything that we didn't get done yesterday.
OH has got loads of shredding of old paperwork to do :-(

It looks like a summer day here nice and fresh.

Am out tonight to get away from the football on tv :-D

It's a lovely day here too Linds.......the sunshine makes such a difference doesn't it?

Poor Gins.......hope you soon recover from whatever is ailing you.........

Haven't stopped all morning. Quick trip to supermarket..........then to visit our friend who has had an important birthday recently......drop OH off for a short walk home.....a bit of housework......out to lunch with a friend..........zzzzz

I met up with my friend and, as soon as we entered the coffee shop, we both recognised someone who was already in.

Just as our lunch was brought to the table, another couple got up to leave. The woman came over and said "I know you don't I?" Now this happens to me quite a lot so I went through the usual possibilities.

Then the husband joined in and was able to name my husband so they definitely knew me. Eventually we sorted out the how's, why's, when's and where's and chatted amiably for a while.

The lunch was really nice and, as it was drawing to a close, an older lady and a young woman came in. The place was full and, as we had finished, I said they could sit at our table whilst we got our stuff together. The older woman looked at me and said "I know you don't I?"..........at this point, my friend threw her head back and said "I'm not coming out with you anymore......this ALWAYS happens when I'm with you." We sorted out the whatevers again and we paid up and left.

I will have to go out with a bag over my head next time I'm with that friend I think.... :-D :-D :-D :-D

Cyn,

Your fame has obviously gone on before you.

When I was a shopkeeper I often used to experience similar situations which with probably 2,000 or so customers visiting the shop every week was only to be expected. Local encounters were to be expected but not all were local. On one occasion whilst on holiday in Portugal I was sitting on the beach in Praia da Rocha when a woman came up to me and said that she had a bone to pick with me. :-0

She said that she had been in my shop (In Birmingham) a few days earlier and had purchased a chip pan as a wedding present for someone. Apparently she had asked the shop assistant (Gladys) to put it into a box to make it easier for her to giftwrap when she got it home. Gladys had replied saying that cheap chip pans do not come boxed. The woman who accosted me was being quite serious when she suggested that I dismiss Gladys.

I of course was very sympathetic, right up until the moment the woman walked away. ;-)

Jonesey You mean you didn't offer a gift wrapping service ;-) :-D :-D :-D

Cynthia that was a busy lunch, Maybe youu should have got a bigger table ;-)

I have just lost 2 hours fixing up a banking error.

Had to go for lunch afterwards to calm my nerves ;-)

Will vent on dark side

OH gets recognised in strange places as well ............................ he used to teach large classes of 400+ in the early days, then it fropped to 100+, and finally to "reasonable" classes of 20-40, as he began teaching more senior classes.

But many thousands of students were involved

and we often got the "Nice to see you, Dr xxxxx. I enjoyed your class". Or "I was in your class."

Of course, OH only occasionally recognises them!

The first time we took the train across Canada in 1971 ............... one of the dining car attendants said that.

Even now ...........

....... one of the servers at our most favourite, special occasion, restaurant said a couple of years ago that he had been in one of OH's classes, and that he had enjoyed it (phew!!).

Cynthia Report 27 Feb 2013 20:23

It's always embarrassing when people do that Sylvs. I can chat amiably for ages to someone and, when we have parted waves, OH will say "Who was that?" and I will reply "not a clue". I know the faces but can't always remember in what context :-D :-D

Jonesey - love it. Cheap chip pan as a wedding present...........sheeeeeeesh. Hope you gave Gladys a raise!!

Did you know Burt Lancaster's maternal GM was from Belfast?

Gee

Gee Report 28 Feb 2013 08:01

Mornin all~~~~~~

David, who's Burt Lancaster?

Now this might appear a silly question. Yesterday, I went through 1.5 boxes of tissues, if you want proof, I'll send you a photo of my nose

Heres the question...............I only went to spend a penny twice yesterday, despite drinking shed loads of water all day and night :-0

Do you think the fluid that went in, came out by way of my nose?

:-S :-S

SylviaInCanada Report 28 Feb 2013 08:14

Gins

that's what happened to me with that cold I had back in January .............. I was going through a box of tissues in a day, but hardly went to the loo.

I just kept on drinking water.

Gee

Gee Report 28 Feb 2013 08:24

Thank you Sylvs, I think it must come out of your nose then, it is fluid after all

Glad you answered first, I can just imagine Cyns comments!
