I haven't got an ironing board either Percy - I always do mine on the kitchen worktop but I do have a special ironing mat which I put on it.

I dont have any trouble doing my clothes as they are quite small and can just lie flat, or hubbies, but I did have terrible trouble a few years ago when trying to do my d-i-l's ironing.

She is 'somewhat larger' than me and had just given birth to my grand-daughter so they were maternity clothes too - She was not too well at the time and so I took on all their washing and ironing.

I had never noticed but but maternity tops will not lie 'flat' as they have larger fronts than backs to accomodate the bump so it was a real struggle for weeks until she was well enough to do it herself. - I almost went and bought an ironing board at that stage ;-) :-D :-D

Phew Cynthia I'm tired just reading your post ;-)

I have an empty house for a few hours. OH and No2 son are out for dinner then going to the Bruce Springstein concert :-D

Part of son's present to his Dad for OH's recent birthday.

No1 son is out at gym then stays at partners tonight.

So peace reigns at least for a few hours :-D

Hi all - I'm back ....OOoouch ... ;-) :-D

My, you have all been busy today :-0

Linds - I didn't do that because I never even thought of it !!! :-( - It would have been an awful lot easier to iron those 'bumps' on her ironing board - I could even have borrowed it for a few weeks ! - I just didn't think of it :-( :-D :-D

Going for a little listen to the radio and a 'settle down' >>>>>>>>>

See you all later,

Gentle (((hugs))) for Dearest Dea. Take it easy and don't go overdoing it <3

Didn't people always used to use tables for ironing? I could do it at a push but, in all honesty, the ironing board is so much easier. Iron two pairs of trousers this afternoon - wouldn't want to do that on a table. :-(

Got visitors tomorrow so will be here and there........ :-D

More than 40 years ago my M-I-L had a 'portable' table top steam press thingy !!

I say 'portable' but it weighed a tonne !!

It did work very well though, especially for sheets and things - you would have loved it !!
