Oh I do hate giving the 1911 census and telling them there were children who died.

"what were there names" how the f*&^% do I Know unless they have really unusual names

OK my gt grandparents had 16 kids but 6 died before the 1911 found 15 find the other one please Webster islington between 1882 and 1904 thats it ok

No I have given up with that as a lost cause

Although this name collector who stole all my findings on anc*stry and asked to view my tree on here has'nt replied after I asked what her connection was huh

Right when I first discovered FreeBMD, which would be 2003 I think when my Monck mentor pointed me there to get me off his back, my mum told me her grandparents (yes, Annie and Ernest Monck) had had two children who died -- she'd just found out. An Ada and a Julia.

And that was how I found that an Ada Lennox Monck had been born and died in 1894/5 ... and an Ada Lennox Monck had married in 1875. And that was too much coincidence for me, and was 1/2 of what set me off on the Hill/Monck epic journey ...

But yup, there you are. Without a really unusual name!

Oh, I am so glad I have so little on my tree, and show it to no one now. My mum and her mother and my dad got stolen a couple of times, but other than that it was people who already had more than me on our shared lines, and they were just lifting the recent ones. And the lines where I am the evil genius who's figured them out, I ain't a sharing with anybody until I publish!

(And that actually was the very first search I did at FreeBMD, I think!)

This thread now appears on TTF as

My tree is very small but I am quite proud of what I have found about my grandmothers siblings. There are a few that have this family but only the bare minimum dates not quite right ect and only a few like 8 -10 where as I had 15. then this person copies the lot and I cannot see a relationship to this family I get annoyed.
A day later she comes on this site finds my dads sister and asks me to open my tree...I know she is'nt related as my dad only had one sibling and sadly she died aged 51 in Australia.
I would'nt have a problem if it was one of my grandmothers siblings grandchildren asking but it was'nt.

Think I may send her another message now asking why she has'nt answered my question

Morning All

Where is everyone - hope you are all ok

Watched the news - the travel situation seems to have
Worsened over night

Over 1000 people queuing for Eurostar - mostly
youngsters -

We too have bad weather - it is teaming with rain

And in for the day - more mud slides expected

Quite a lot was down yesterday after previous downpours

If this rain passed up to you - you will have more snow

No breakfast???????

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 21 Dec 2010 13:03

Hey, I left brunch on Sunday and I found most of it still sitting in the fridge when I got up.

I know you people do Christmas "lunch" so I'm not sure what you get up to for breakfast on xmas day. We do an early supper, here, for the bird and trimmings. So we have a big breakfast/brunch after prezzie opening (which is early if there are kids involved). I'll volunteer to make sure there's extra if you want to join us!

Combining my dad's tradition with my sister's partner's now -- my dad cooked quite a bit, generally his specialties, and my sister's No.1 is a cooking fiend -- we have:

back bacon (peameal bacon, what the yanks call Canadian bacon)
big fat Portuguese sausages, barbecued no matter what the weather
scrambled eggs (or to order)
"tater tots" in the oven (yeah, frozen thingies)
many bread products, especially big soft bagels from a special Toronto bakery
(Montreal bagels are completely different and way better, but you can't get them in Toronto)
cream cheeses
smoked salmon (vegetarians in the house)
sparkling wine, juices, coffee, tea

We'll just have to work on the virtual clock for this one. ;)

After the board meeting last night, JB is keeping his job, full time, at least until March......so we can pay the mortgage!

Some breathing space at least.....I shall thank The Boss

Son is hungover after the lads Christmas do last night. I felt a right old lush taking out all the empty bottles him and his mates got through last night.......

..............clashing into the recycle bin for about 10 minutes, I swear the neighbours were watching!

Gee

Gee Report 21 Dec 2010 13:45

Dear Ms Canuck

Firstly what are you doing up at this time and secondly smoked salmon is not vegetarian!

Cynthia Report 21 Dec 2010 13:49

If you put your specs on Janey (did you get your eye checked?), you will see that I snaffled most of that delicious ham quiche.......hey, how come you have bacon in the house now? A Christmas treat or what? Whatever, it all sounds rather nice especially the fresh bagels as I love different types of bread.

Managed to get to the hospital for my voluntary job today which was a nice break. My friend and I sat there with our festive headgear on (antlers and bobbing Father Christmas). The patients and staff were very complimentary and it cheered them up in this dismal weather.

Nipped to the butchers and bought the chipolatas to put in the freezer to make sure we have them ready for my son to pick up should we be threatened by snow again.

At 2am this morning, I had to get up, don clothes and go outside to sort the pipe out again! Am going up a ladder later to try and tap some more blocked ice out. Such fun!
