Your welcome Fans

Jax

That's still quite a lot left to eat then

Fans - think low carb would not suit you - I do Atkins for short periods - two or three times a year - but I love meat and fish so it is quite easy for me - and I adore crispy roasted broccoli and asparagus - instead of roast potatoes

Oh yeah but if I was told I had to eat them I would just heave like I did when I was a kid when forced to eat them....all except broccoli as I don't remember that being around in the 60s. I would say my favourite veg is mushroom but never tasted one till I was 16 because they were too expensive back then

Why wont low carb suit me Renes...Am I special or something?

Just finished watching the Jonny Cash story and now going to bed and hoping ti rains all night so I can get to that party tomorrow..
Sit down dinner at 5.30pm and the cooking is excellent, then good entertainment after, all in a pub but good compny and all paid for by our host,so I WILL get there,by hook or by crook I think...He will be disappointed if we dont as he phoned to see if we were still going...

So now to bed.

Night

Fans

Yes your special -

you are not a big meat eater and on low carb all meat fish and all protein foods are free whilst all high carbohydrates foods are forbidden - on low value carb foods are permitted - so tatties and bread are out

But Fans you are not a big eater and you don't eat sweet stuff - preferring savory - so think it is the

Dreaded Gym for you -

which you are supposed to be going to SOON

Well, speaking of diets, I think everyone could do with porridge and a full English this morning.

We have got the snow at last and it's a complete nuisance. I am going to don my wellies and see if I can clear a path to the garage.

I am with you there Cynthia !

You do the porridge and I will do the 'full English'....

Sausages and bacon are already done 'to perfection' and the rest will be ready soon.

As a special treat I have also cooked a huge pile of pancakes - served with syrup, or sugar and wedges of lemon to squeeze over.... yumm !! (I have eaten 3 already, tee hee !)

Enjoy all.....

Another 2 inches of snow, and still snowing....All weather gear out of loft, wellies at the ready and shovels poised...Dig snow away so we can at least open the gate to try and get car out today....
Sun peeping through, but its RAIN I want to see...Or a nice big gritter lorry with a snow plough in front of it..Wishful thinking on a B road and a private drive..Sigh.

Still waiting to hear about the Gym..They have a list and we are on it,but when we get to the top is anyones guess..

Pancakes with lemon and sugar please....

Good morning all

I used to have a gym membership a few years back. I went for a month then paid them for the privilege of saying I have a gym membership but I never used it.

Then decided to buy one of those home gym thingy me bobs. Used it for about a month and slowly over the months, years became a place to put my woollies which need to be dried flat, or washing that can't go in the dryer. Every so often OH has a go but not consistently enough to have an effect.

Last Christmas we bought a WII fit and you got it, like Helen Miram I was really good for a month, then I figured out to do it justice I would have to get up at 5 am every day. It is great fun and really enjoy doing it but not willing to get up so early.

I just need to get focused, find my resolve and walk when OH not with me instead of jumping into car. I have lost a stone since doing OH diet but I do cheat when at work and have biscuit with coffee.

Oh Dea.....I absolutely adore pancakes - like Fans please - just sugar and lemon.............mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Shovelling that snow should shift some lbs Fans! Don't forget though, if you get out, you have to get back!!

Son has phoned me and warned me not to do anything 'silly' - as if!!

Our main road is just about functioning, but it's getting the car onto the road that's the problem! May have to laze around all day.......how difficult is that??

Dea

Dea Report 18 Dec 2010 11:42

Just making a fresh batch of pancakes for you Cynth and have been to the shop for some more lemons...... 'my', they are popular today !

That's how I like them best too - sprinkled with sugar and lemon juice.

There you go>>>>>

P.S. - Nice that son has phoned and warned you to be careful Cynth, it shows he cares.

Here is Janey's pastry recipe. Like Renes I blind bake it too

I'll take a shot at the pastry recipe for you -- my mum clipped it from the paper years ago and we both use it religiously. ;) Problem is, my cup in Canada is not your cup in England, so it has to be converted. This recipe makes a largish single crust.

The flour is measured by volume, not by weight. My cup is 8 ounces by volume, yours is 10.

Sift together in pie plate:
12 ounces (1 and 1/5 cup for you) plain flour
3/4 teaspoon salt (I leave that out)
Beat in measuring cup with fork or whisk until creamy:
4 ounces (2/5 cup for you) veg oil (canola is best)
3 tablespoons cold skimmed milk (or any milk)

Pour the liquid all at once over the flour.
Mix with fork until completely dampened.
Push with fingers to form even crust on bottom and sides of pie plate.
Fill and bake as usual!

When I want Janeys crust for savory I add chopped garlic and herbs - I am addicted to Oregano and Sage and finely chopped onions - so I mix in a selection and then make asparagus and rocquefort quiche

Superb

But have used the Crust for lemon meringue pies as well - am making one for tomorrow - to cheer up OH - it is his favourite

Yes well...I is hungover from last nights visitors. They brought far too much booze and made me drink it

In an effort not to get too drunk, I made piles of chip butties...which went down a treat...all home made in the oven with cajon and olive oil

Now I am all alone with a fuzzy head :(

Where are my friends now then!

TootyFruity

TootyFruity Report 18 Dec 2010 13:38

I've only used the pastry for quiche and a crust on a casserole.

I've just ventured out. Thick with snow. I live on a main road and the gritters have not been out. The buses have been cancelled. The shop across the road is doing a roaring trade. No papers, only the Star was delivered today. Tesc* have cancelled my delivery today so will have to trek to supermarket tomorrow.

Anyone would think I live in the back and beyond lol

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 18 Dec 2010 14:33

Thanks for that.Toots.

It seems to have stopped snowing thank goodness. We had about a foot of the stuff.

How's old fuzzy head now?
