just looked for my other grandfather, who I also know is on the 1911

ja...x, there may be adverts in your local paper or yellow pages re mobile hairdressers. Mind you, personal recommendation is a bonus.

Just be listening to the One Show and they were recommending ways of keeping your car from freezing up.......eg. putting vaseline on the doorseals and rubbing potato on the windscreen.......in - ter -est - ing.

Sylvs!!! Where's your decorum gone? Rolling around on the floor at your age indeed.......whatever would Janey say.....remember, we're old codgers!! lol

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 9 Dec 2010 19:25

over here you can buy

little heaters that you can poke into the door lock to unfreeze it before you insert the key (if you still need a key that is)

windshield washer liquid that contains antifreeze

and, in the coldest areas .................

everyone will have an attachment to their engine that is plugged into outdoor sockets to keep the engine warm overnight, or during the day .................. many places such as Winnipeg actually have these sockets at parking meters etc

Do I now know what to ask Santa to send you guys for Christmas??

I have been very carefully ignoring that comment by that person!

I seem to have been in the middle of composing a post last night and then wandered off ...

The Facebook confirmation thing -- you are actually not allowed to use fake names; you must be a real person and may have only one account.

I recognized the confirmation phone message thingy because I'd got it at Gmail recently.

I got a message in one of my accounts confirming that my new account had been set up. The name of the new account was ... wait for it, ... you'll recognize immediately that it had to be me, you'd know me anywhere ...

sexcrazedangel.

Yup, that's me alright. And I'd given my other gmail address as the backup one.

Well, I immediately went into my new account and changed the password. Then I sent No.1 a message from it, thinking of course he'd recognize me straight off too.

Then I went to go to the sent messages folder to delete the message I'd sent him, in case the twirp who set it up got back in, and change the secret question if there was one, and bingo, I was locked out. Gmail had detected unusual activity on the account, and I would have to give a phone number to get a confirmation code to get back in.

I assume the twirp who set it up wouldn't bother doing that either, so No.1's email address is likely safe.

Anyhow, the alternative at Facebook, if you don't have a phone number, is to upload a scan of a government-issued ID showing your name, address and date of birth.

Yeah. Right.

Sylvia ................

"and, in the coldest areas .................

You mean, like, everywhere in Canada except lotusland, and of course T.O.?

I have two outdoor plug-ins at my office house alongside the driveway, one wired for each apartment. My friend who used to live downstairs drove off one day without unplugging, and managed to detach the electrical fixture from the outside of the house.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 9 Dec 2010 19:43

lol!

I've heard of peope driving off while still attached!!

and yes, I meant Lotusland .................. and Halifax

ever heard of the tourist who thought Winnipeg was great because they provided free outlets for shavers outside public buildings and at parking meters? :)))

Sexcrazedangel indeedy!

Now, do we believe that or not...........? The jury is out.

Actually, when I first read it, I thought it said 'sex craze dangle' - just momentary moment of dyslexia you understand.......!

Think I may give FB a miss.......sounds much too complicated for me and I'm now thoroughly confused with Janey's back and forth shenanigans.

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 9 Dec 2010 20:56

Nope. OH is watching Jurassic Park 3.

Wouldn't know who was who in Corrie now, so not worth it.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 9 Dec 2010 20:59

Well, we get Corrie delayed. ;)

I'm taping the 7 pm (midnight your time) east coast showing for viewing w/o commercials.

I take it the terrorists didn't take out the street after all, then?

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 9 Dec 2010 21:01

Oh dear, no wonder I couldn't find the info in my gmail account. I'm not sexcrazedangel, I'm sexcravingangel! Now that makes more sense ...

Dea

Dea Report 9 Dec 2010 21:04

JaneyCanuck Report 9 Dec 2010 21:09

Hey, never mind the who did what in Corrie then.

Go do that in some other thread. There are Canadians in this thread, and in Canada, it is Valentine's day 2010 on Coronation Street, and Gail still doesn't know Joe is dead. We're assuming that because Gail and Joe were so clever as to have a big fight in front of witnesses, she's going to get fingered, and much tedium will ensue.

Oh, and it's also 4 pm on Thursday, and the live show won't be watched for a few hours yet!

So ... stfu, youse. ;)

Gee

Gee Report 9 Dec 2010 21:10

Oh...Corrie is repeated here at 11.30pm

It was very good and live too

Ash is dead, so is Moll and theres more to come

Dea

Dea Report 9 Dec 2010 21:11

Never mind Gail, 'I' didn't know Joe was dead !!

I havn't watched it for ages !!
